Gunship Proto Overview
This project was made to focus on creating a fine-tuned physics based player controller, and creating a responsive and excellent game feel to the game.
To accomplish this the project has different ship types to demo the physics controller and various player feedback features such as hitstop and camera shake to emphasize certain actions/events.
Features
Physics Based Movement
The player's ship uses Jerk (Acceleration/Time) to control the ship and give the different ship types different feelings of weight and movement speed.
The weight of ships also affects how much they are pushed back while shooting as a force is also applied to emphasize the shot of each bullet.
Player Feedback
Player feedback is emphasized through Hitstop which varies depending on the users action as well as Screenshake which is related to the strength of an action.
Additionally different flavor text and effects are shown depending on whether the player is hit, spawned, explodes, etc.
Multi-Limbed Boss
The boss in the demo features multiple individual parts which are able to act both in unison with the main boss as well as independently from each other.
